Bill Mackie Engineering Limited is a family owned business, which was formed in 1996 to provide a marine repair, overhaul and fabrication service for the needs of the local fishing industry, now employs over 35 personnel since it has been established.

Further to recent developments within the operating system of Bill Mackie Engineering Limited, Peterhead, we are delighted to announce the completion of our new vehicle service & repair division . This purpose built & stand alone facility, situated at the rear of slipway at Peterhead’s harbour, is fully equipped to cater for the range of vehicles from light commercial up to and including heavy commercial, including: arctic units, flatbed’s & arctic’s c/w trailers.

DTI (MCA Repair Work)
Removal of sea inlet & overboard valves for overhaul.
Dismantling, cleaning, re-machining of valve spindles & seats, grinding & lapping of valves, re-assembling of valve bonnet packing gland, ready for MCA inspection. Installation aboard vessel after MCA approval. Checking of tailshaft lift.
Repairs to all hatch & door toggles, hatch seals etc.

Hull Zinc Anode Replacement
Removal of zinc anodes from vessel’s hull, supply & refit zinc anodes by means of welding back into correct position.

Pipework System Manufacture & Installation
The design, construction, fabrication & installation of new fresh & sea water pipework systems in various material types to include: mild steel, stainless steel & copper/brass. Connections to pipework can be done in either flanges or threaded compression fittings.

Tailshaft Sealing Arrangement Renewal
The removal of vessel’s tailshaft & re-skimming or polishing of tailshaft sealing diameters.
Supply & installation of new deep sea seal arrangements or white metal steel bushes.
Reinstallation of tailshaft & relevant completion checks undertaken.

Engine Overhauls, Engine Renewals & Gearbox Repairs
The complete overhaul of main engines & generator sets to include: MAN B&W Alpha Diesels, Blackstone, Kelvin, Cummins, Caterpillar, Callesen etc.

We can even remove complete engines from vessel’s, by access via deck hatches or by burning out sections from vessel’s ship side.
Re-install replacement engine onto existing beds or install a new engine and alter beds & pipework to suit new installation.
Alignment of engine to tailshaft & gearbox all done to highest of standards.
Repairs to various gearboxes undertaken to include manufacturers such as: FINNOY, Reintjes, Heimdal, Twin Disc, Borg Warner, ZF etc.
